He’s a whopper!

November 14, 2006

On the 3/11/06 I packed my bags tied my line and added a float to my rod and put it all in the car with dad and Ryan’s stuff. We hoped in the car as we waved goodbye to mum and Brodie. We drove for half an hour when we stoped at a KFC to get a snack. We drove for hours and hours until we finally got to our new cabin were we unpacked our bags and put a hook on my line. Next we went fishing and caught a fair sized mullet. So we kept him but the rest of the fish we caught were barely an inch long so we did keep him the next day I caught a half a metre long fish so we kept him to. We also caught 16 other fish which we kept to. We went fishing at night with a float later and we caught 3 mullet and six salmon eventually we didn’t catch any more fish so we went home. The next day we packed our bags and left. When we got home I had a big rink and went to bed.

Bike Ed is in it’s 5th week and it has taught the kids at Bellaire lots off skills about crossing roads safely and lots more. Everybody brings their bike to school and gives it a ride around for a while. Last Bike Ed we gave them a ride around the school and went down a big hill. I wish I could have gone faster (the girl in front off me wasn’t going fast enough).

Kids Survive Earthquake and Storm

November 8, 2006

A group of middles goes to camp and build’s hut’s to see what their score was when their huts are tested in different conditions such as Earthquakes and Storms.Group five arrived at the hut building on 21st August to find a whole forest of trees and sticks. The activity was hut building so they got to work. There was a big creek with no water in it so it was the perfect place to build a hidden hut.

Most huts built in the creek didn’t get a very good score but the builders got to be lazy because they didn’t have to build walls.

Some groups had tyres, others had twigs but all of the students worked the hardest they ever worked to build a waterproof/earthquake proof hut.

Each had an hour to make a hut that had to hold the whole group. After an hour had slowly gone by it was announced that it was time for testing.

“They poured 4 litres on my hut.” Said Nick a pro hut builder who won the competition for hut building in his group. The first hut was rated nine out of ten, the next was rated nine out of ten too.

The next hut was a disaster with the rain test. The students in it were pretty wet but the hut was pretty earthquake proof so in the end they got rated eight and a half out of ten.

The next was disgraceful and they got soaked! But they were strongest in the group. When an earthquake appeared they were all prepared with no collapsing wood in sight.

“I felt cold and wet.” said David R one of the kids that was in the hut that got soaking wet.

Hut two was good but with the earthquake test anyone in it would have been killed because all the sticks started falling down and then the bark fell down on the rug, (a garbage bag found in the remains of an other old run down hut found in a bunch of bushes).

“ I was wet cold and nervous.” Tom said.

There were many other huts being built at the time but all of them were really good and almost every one got wet! In the end everyone got to destroy the huts and throw every thing away and crush the sticks.

“I felt cool.” said Jemma.

The middles had lots of fun making huts I wonder what they will do next year at Anglesea.

The Great Toy Sale

November 8, 2006

Bellaire’s having a big toy sale to raise money for new playground equipment for the preps & juniors. The toy sale was set up by the junior school council and kids  were asked to bring any toys that they didn’t want under these rules:

No electronic or wireless electronic toys.

All toys must have all parts with them. (so the buyer can enjoy it as much as you did)

All toys must be working (so there is no disappointment to the buyer)

Then class buy class they go buy the toys to give those toys a new home.

The Roll

November 8, 2006

Almost every day of the week middle p has the roll.

I know it sounds pretty average because you used to have it to as a child but middle p does it differently.

When we do the roll we have a subject it could be transport or Geelong etc then we have letters that your word has to start with. It can have several letters or a very little amount.(say up to 5 letters or as low as 2 letters) and then the teacher rates how good the word is in these words Very good, I was expecting that one and terrible. And that is how middle p does there roll.
